The Manchester College

Introduction

We are one of the largest organisations of our kind in Europe. We have around 5,000 employees working across more than 20 locations providing learning and skills to over 80,000 learners and 3,000 employers across the UK.

Quality is our number one priority and we are committed to a major programme of quality improvement to support all of our learners and employers and to provide the foundation for the growth opportunities laid out in our Strategic Plan.

We strongly believe that the learner should be at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to improving the lives, employability and economic situation of all individuals, by giving them access to the best training, education and employment opportunities, whatever their background. By doing so we aim to contribute to local and national economic growth.

We’re increasing our already significant apprenticeships offer and are developing higher level apprenticeships which will provide a vital work-based progression route to higher levels of study for employed learners.

We offer programmes for unemployed people and those not in education, employment or training (NEET), and through the school leavers award, we provide financial support for some young people. Our priority skills programmes ensure that learners achieve the skills required to progress into employment.

We work with small businesses and large international corporations to develop the skills of their employees to improve business performance and productivity. We also work in close partnership with awarding and statutory bodies, universities and city partners in Manchester and nationally.

Our growing higher education and degree programmes further support our view that access to high-level training and education should be available to all irrespective of background. Furthermore, we have a national profile in professional learning and qualifications under our MOL brand.

Nationally, we are also the market leader in offender learning. We teach and train offenders in prisons and young offender institutions across many regions of the UK.

Our size offers valuable benefits for our learners and employers in terms of facilities, resources, the breadth of the curriculum we offer and progression opportunities. However, we offer more than size and scope, we offer them a sense of belonging to an organisation that cares passionately about its mission, its values and its people.

The needs of the learner are the focus of The Manchester College. We provide excellence in learning and training for the residents of Manchester and beyond. We offer an unprecedented range of courses, with clear choices and guidance for all our students.

The Manchester College is based at many sites across Manchester. We have campuses in the north, south and centre of the city. Each site has its own specialist, cutting-edge facilities and a friendly, supportive atmosphere.

The College is ideally placed to offer a huge range of opportunities to learners of all ages.

The College holds Investors in People (IiP) Silver accreditation. Investors in People is a framework for business improvement through people.
