Founded in 1908 in Boston, Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT) is one of New England’s oldest colleges of technology. Started with a bequest from Benjamin Franklin, and a matching gift from Andrew Carnegie, the private non-profit college offers an affordable education for people seeking technical careers.

Our STEM degree programs are designed specifically for jobs in high demand. We train students to diagnose and solve problems while becoming leaders in technology industries. We work closely with leading companies to create pipelines for training, jobs, and internships during your education and upon graduation.

As high-skilled technicians, our students know how to make things work; as good citizens, they herald civic responsibility in their communities. Many of our associate degree graduates continue on to earn a bachelor’s degree at BFIT, or at another college or university. Along with a strong technical foundation, our majors incorporate general education courses to prepare students for team building, problem-solving, and communication skills to succeed in today’s economy.

Financial Aid

Our staff will work with you and your family to make sure your education is affordable. About 90% of students qualify for financial aid and the college awards over $2 million in scholarships every year.

Success Coaches

Students are assigned an advisor before the first day of class to help navigate course options and provide study tips. Our main goal is to get you to graduate and enter the workforce fully prepared to advance in your career.

Campus Activities

We encourage student engagement through co-curricular opportunities such as student organizations, leadership programs, sports teams, and civic engagement programs. Annual events include the Franklin Technology Challenge.

Academic Support

Students receive free tutoring and academic support throughout the year. Developmental coursework is available for those who need it, and free summer courses help you catch up or get ahead.

Career Counseling

The Career Services department coordinates part-time jobs, sets up internships, and works to place graduates into full-time positions in their field. We offer extensive job listings and an annual career fair
