Introduction
Bachelor study programme Electrical Engineering and Information Technology develop competencies to analyze and solve engineering problems of various complexities, to operate as an efficient team member, and to contribute to the design of systems and processes in the area of electrical engineering and information technology.
Electrical engineering focuses on the application of physical laws about electromagnetic phenomena in the development of products and services for the benefit of humanity.
Information technology uses computers, computer networks, communication systems, and technology to sense, process, store, and display information.
Students will gain a broad set of engineering skills and competencies in the fields of electrical engineering and information technology throughout three years of study that will prepare them to efficiently integrate as productive engineering team member after finishing their studies. High emphasis is placed on practical skills and early career development during the study.
While the first two years of study focus to teach students a common set of skills required by an engineer in the fields of electrical engineering and information technology through a carefully prepared set of required courses, the last year of study offer a large selection of elective courses that will give students an opportunity to gain specific knowledge and competencies in the fields of
- communication technologies
- control engineering
- electronics
- embedded systems
- energy and power engineering
- robotics and mechatronics
- signal and information processing
If they wish to further broaden their expertise in specific fields, after finishing Bachelor study programme students will be well prepared to enrol in master study programmes in electrical engineering and information technology at any university worldwide, including the possibility to continue their education by taking Master study programme at FER.
The study programme also puts a high emphasis on the development of soft engineering skills through the set of transversal courses, which complement basic engineering education with an additional set of skills that are necessary to form an engineer as a complete person.

Course Structure
A visual guide to the study programme is presented below. The numbers in rows represent academic semesters (two semesters per year, a total of three years). Each semester has a predefined set of courses (required, elective, project, transversal) with a total count of 30 ECTS points per semester.
The visual guide shows required courses only. For a full list of elective and transversal courses please visit the study programme page.
Career Opportunities
FER alumni are highly appreciated professionals not only in Croatia but also in high-tech companies in different sectors worldwide. FER actively cooperates with more than 450 companies, including some of the most significant high tech companies from Croatia but also all over the world. Both students and companies benefit from this network that provides an opportunity to connect the best matching talents with industry needs even before students finish their studies.
Students are offered early career guidance through the services of Career Center, which helps students to connect with employers through the organization of various networking events, such as Job Fair and Career Speed Dating.
Students are highly encouraged to participate in an internship programme to gain a competitive edge on the labor market while still studying.
As a faculty with traditionally highly appreciated research components on an international level, students can also take a part in more than 250 international and national R&D projects, both scientific research and industry collaboration projects, that run at FER every year.
For students with startup aspirations, a student-friendly startup incubator is a right place to visit and explore new horizons.
