Campus Features
International students have to organize accommodation on their own, i.e. look for private rental accommodation. Zagreb is very friendly towards the student population and there are many accommodation options throughout the city. You can either rent the apartment or a room, or you can even share it with the roommate. Price range is between 200 and 500 EUR per month, depending on location, room size, facility etc. Overhead expenses are sometimes included in the price, and sometimes are paid by the consumer.
The best way to find accommodation is to search for different offers on the web-portals. Some of them are in Croatian only, but they usually have photos of apartments and contact email so may send an inquiry. Before choosing a flat, you might need to spend some time in a youth hostel, you have plenty of choice for such a type of affordable temporary accommodation in Zagreb.

The enrolment application for the entering class of 2023 is open.
Please note that we will have two submission rounds (cycles) with the following deadlines:
- Early Bird: February to May – due 30 April 2023
- Regular: May to July – due 21 July 2023
We will also hold a special circumstance Last Call round with a 31 August 2023 deadline (restrictions apply - please read carefully). The Last Call round is intended for students who are unable to apply by the Regular deadline due to administrative reasons (such as differences in school system calendars or delays in obtaining academic records) or due to extraordinary circumstances (such as natural disasters or health-related issues). Students who need a recognition of diploma and/or require a visa to study in Croatia will not be able to apply in the Last Call round.
Application fee
The application fee is a non-refundable charge that supports the administration of the application process. The application fee for international students applying to our bachelor and master study programmes in English is 1,800 HRK (approximately 240 EUR), and it includes the academic recognition procedure of students’ previous education. It is not possible to apply for an application fee waiver; however, if your application process does not require an academic recognition procedure (nostrification) by Croatian government agencies and the University of Zagreb, we will automatically reduce 50% of your fee and count it towards your tuition fee.
Student Testimonials
For the past 3 months, I have been living on my own for the first time and it was the best experience of my life. It is so cool to have the opportunity to get to know so many different people from all around the world. It is also crazy how much you can learn on both personal and professional levels. Discovering that even in the middle of a pandemic, we're never too young to explore and acquire new knowledge!
PAULA HERNÁNDEZ GARCÍA, Spain
Zagreb is a very vibrant and interesting city. The combination of low costs access to services and a central geography makes Zagreb in my opinion one of the greatest ’student cities’. I study computing at FER in the university of Zagreb, and despite being a foreign student with limited Croatian ability, I never feel alienated this is probably helped by the fact the almost all of the Croatian youth speak English to some capacity. The treatment by faculty staff is also very good, you don’t feel like an oddity while still getting at least some preferential treatment haha! Ultimately I believe that Croatia is one of the best places to live in all of Europe, although this is probably a bit biased!

Erasmus Student Network Zagreb is a student organization based on a principle “student helping student“, with a mission to help international students in Zagreb by providing information and organizing various sports, cultural, educational and entertaining events to make them feel at home.
Apart from the many cultural attractions that Zagreb has to offer, such as the Old Town, the Cathedral, National Theatre, or a number of museums and concert halls, there are various types of street events, food festivals, and outdoor concerts that take place throughout the year in the city parks and squares. Every year, one event, in particular, takes over the entire city center - the Christmas market, voted the best Christmas market in Europe three years in a row.
Croatia is famous for its wonderful nature, crystal clear Adriatic Sea, great food and wine, and many other hidden gems. There are two particular "pearls" on the coast - the town of Rovinj in the north, located on the Istrian peninsula, and the town of Dubrovnik at the southern end, recently made famous as the citadel from Game of Thrones!
