Introduction
Our program is designed to prepare human resource professionals to deal with the challenge of managing today’s workforce in a small but growing business, corporate or nonprofit entity, or multinational organization. The program content provides comprehensive coverage of the major functional areas of human resource management such as staffing, employee training and development, wages, and benefits. In addition, students will understand and develop personal competencies such as business communication skills and skills in managing diversity.
➤ SHRM approved program. The human resource management major at NKU is one of only 263 programs in the world that has been acknowledged as being in alignment with the Society for Human Resource Management HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates.
➤ Take the SHRM Certified Professional exam. The Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world’s largest HR professional society, representing 285,000 members in more than 165 countries. The human resource management major at the Haile/US Bank College of Business is the only undergraduate program in the region approved by the SHRM, allowing students to be eligible to apply for the SHRM Certified Professional exam (SHRM-CP) once they have accumulated 500 hours of relevant HR experience.
➤ Internship opportunities. Students also will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in human resource management by completion of a rigorous and required internship program.
➤ Make the world your classroom. Study abroad in countries around the world, including Czech Republic, Ireland, Germany and England, while taking specialized business courses.
➤ More options. NKU's comprehensive curriculum makes it easy to double major or minor in another area of business, such as finance or marketing, to compliment the knowledge gained through the human resource management major.
