Introduction
Communication design connects not only to the school's core values (social inclusion, sustainability and cultural diversity), but also to the school's mission to create a sustainable future. All communication requires at least two people, in traditional media theory called sender and receiver.
The main focus areas of the study are: How to inform objectively? How to lay out a strategy that improves communication? How to create awareness or change? How to create a holistic service or experience through interaction?
To create design with value, the subject focuses on the post-conceptual phase: strategy, validation and design and of course also on what lies before the concept itself, namely: research, analysis and idea development.
At the bachelor's program, you get a broad insight into either social design (including welfare design), sustainability, play & design or management & design (in collaboration with the University of Southern Denmark). In the master's program, the broad approach is replaced by an immersion in one of these areas.
We have an interdisciplinary focus and support interdisciplinary research. Communication design is a global design discipline, and as a designer you will gain a clear profile by exploring your individual competencies, while keeping an eye on the whole that you are also part of. We expect you to be curious, empathetic and communicative.
Curriculum
During your bachelor's degree, you will, among other things, develop your individual skills in drawing, sketching, note-taking techniques, writing, storyboarding, coding, prototyping, etc. You will get to work both analog and digitally, and you will have the opportunity to work with conventional, time-based and new media.
