Introduction
Are you interested in working in international business and specializing in diverse people-oriented leadership? Or do you perhaps want to be an entrepreneur?
In the International Responsible People & Business Management (IB) you will study both the human aspect (people) and the operational aspect (business) of an organisation in the Arctic Circle in an international group whilst learning about the well-being and development of employees alongside the efficient and profitable business activities.
The International Responsible People & Business Management programme focuses on the well-being and development of employees alongside efficient and profitable business activities. There is a growing need for business specialists with the skills and knowledge to lead people in diverse situations and contexts. As a graduate of International Responsible People & Business Management, you can empower people in companies or organizations.
Diverse personnel-oriented leadership is the key element of the International Responsible People & Business Management programme. You will be creating success by empowering people in the company or organization. You will learn basic skills relevant to work in a sustainable business world, such as marketing, financial management, law, business communication and project management. Your knowledge deepens the importance of people in organizational success including human resource management, employee experience, and ethical and sustainable leadership management. You will also learn how to lead learning and competence management and foster an innovative mindset. In the projects and cases, you will work together with local businesses and NGO’s. During your studies, you learn to recognize the challenges and opportunities in leading people in diverse situations and contexts. You also learn about the possibilities of establishing your own business.
The approach of the programme focuses on the well-being and development of employees alongside efficient and profitable business activities. You will deepen your knowledge in topics covering the entire employee journey considering the responsible practices in human resources and paying attention to ethical conduct and sustainability of managing a business, its people and organisational culture. Through your studies, you will become a business expert who can work innovatively both globally and locally and has an entrepreneur-like approach to people-centred business development. You will learn about the possibilities of establishing a business of your own and creating an individual entrepreneurship path. You will also be able to recognize business opportunities around you. This degree allows you to be employed in various tasks in different fields in business and the public sector.
The curriculum of the IB programme will be published later in autumn 2024.
The study environment and cooperation with the working life
The advantage of the programme is its unique environment. You study in an innovative learning environment that combines theory and practice and modern facilities with advanced technologies that support effective learning. You will gain a more concrete approach to the topics studied in projects implemented in close cooperation with local companies and organisations. The programme also encourages the development and implementation of innovative and sustainable business ideas in joint projects with businesses, locally and across borders. Working in teams is a key part of our studies.
Implementation of studies may take multiple forms: in-class studies as well as field activities such as practical training in a company and field trips in the region, an international exchange period and online studies. Students use the Arctic Valley virtual learning environment in business studies.

Improve your international skills.
Studying in English improves your language skills which is a valued skill in working life. Studying in multicultural groups develops your cultural awareness, which is a highly valued skill in working life. You will also have a chance to experience internationalization at home through joint study unit implementation and events together with the local students. You can also improve your international skills by studying or doing your practical training abroad. We offer possibilities for a double degree together with our partner institutions. A double degree programme provides you the opportunity to study for a definite period at a partner institution and get a degree from both institutions. We also hope you enjoy Lapland so much that you'll stay here after your graduation. The best way to start that journey is to look for an internship at a local company.

Admissions
Scholarships and Funding
Scholarships at Lapland University of Applied Sciences for international degree programme students from outside the EU and EEA states.
Scholarships for a Bachelor’s degree programme:
At Lapland UAS, the annual tuition fee for international students from outside the EU and EEA states is EUR 9,500 per academic year.
Third-year students
A student receives a scholarship on the basis of completing the Finnish assessment test and the progress of studies. The student must have completed at least 120 credits after the second year. Students who have achieved level 2 or 3 in language proficiency and made progress in their studies will receive a scholarship of EUR 4,750. The results of assessment tests completed during studies will be accepted.
Fourth-year students
A student receives a scholarship on the basis of completing the Finnish assessment test and the progress of studies. The student must have completed at least 180 credits after the third year. Students who have achieved level 3 in language proficiency and made progress in their studies will receive a scholarship of EUR 1,500 in degree programmes of 210 credits and EUR 3,000 in degree programmes of 240 credits. The results of assessment tests completed during studies will be accepted.
Discretionary scholarships:
Lapland UAS may provide a discretionary scholarship for students from outside the EU and EEA states accepted through a separate application process for completing their studies when the student has completed all studies except the thesis. The scholarship (50% of the annual tuition fee) will be provided retroactively if the student can complete their degree within the target time. The discretionary scholarship is subject to a separate application process.
