The Game Design BFA gives a well-rounded education in the arts with an emphasis on understanding and applying techniques including 3D modeling, animation, and lighting in video game production. Students graduate with a solid grasp of the fundamental game art principles, including knowledge of game engine technology and pre-production and production environments.

The Game Art BFA gives students a well-rounded overview of professional game art tools and fundamentals. Students will be taught both traditional and digital techniques with the ability to specialize in modeling or concepting environments, characters, or both.

The BFA program in Writing for Film, Television & Digital Media will teach you the skills you need to develop engaging characters and scripts. Our program is designed to offer personalized attention to your ideas, with an emphasis on industry expectations and standards. Study in a rigorous, supportive writing workshop environment. Explore original and adapted feature films, television comedy and drama, short films, and writing for other forms of digital media.

The costume design emphasis combines a rigorous sewing program with industry-specific design courses, preparing students to work in theater and film. Students are given the opportunity to gain practical experience through collaboration with the School of Motion Pictures & Television and the School of Acting.

The School of Art History's BFA program blends academic inquiry and practice with one of the most extensive studios art and design programs in the world. Merging the classical tradition of studying western art with the skills and practice of fine art education, our students gain the unique perspective and ability to discuss broad themes around history's most enduring and inspiring works of art.

The Art Education BFA program provides a pathway to becoming an art teacher in classrooms, museums, and community-based art programs. You will be exposed to a wide range of visual art and design media, developing both breadth and depth of knowledge and skill. Through coursework and fieldwork, you will learn how to develop successful curricula and lesson plans for a wide range of audiences.

The Academy of Art University’s School of Art History BA program is a unique major that addresses the traditional art historical study through the analysis of visual culture from antiquity to the present. Complemented with fine art studio coursework (12 units), the BA allows for students to engage in critical and research-based analysis of art and architecture, learning to study the visual culture through its role and influence on different cultures and periods. With internationally recognized faculty and access to a rich offering of coursework, the AAU’s Art History BA prepares students for a career in art-related fields: e.g. in art galleries, museums, foundations, archiving, publishing, and public arts administration.

The BS in Game Programming curriculum emphasizes the data structures, algorithms, and software architecture techniques used by the industry to create cutting-edge games.

Grounded in environmental design, the Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Design (BA-ARH-D) degree provides a strong undergraduate education while allowing the student to experience and gain skills in architectural design, art, architectural, and urban history and theory, fundamentals of sustainability, materials, building construction and structures, as well as advanced design representation tools. To study the world through the architectural lens is an opportunity to examine our culture through the spaces and buildings that we create.

The School of Jewelry & Metal Arts BFA program exposes students to an array of metal design principles and techniques. The curriculum covers sketching, color theory, soldering, stone-setting, welding, casting, mixed-media, enameling, digital techniques, and more.

The School of Landscape Architecture BFA program focuses on the development of flexible design processes for landscape and urban design, an understanding of ecological systems, sustainable practices and use of materials, site planning, and advanced drafting and rendering techniques. By graduation, each student will have a portfolio that reflects his or her unique creative vision within this rapidly expanding and evolving profession.

The BFA in Sound Design provides a more in-depth study of principles introduced in the AA program. Students will gain a complete overview of the soundtrack creation process, learning the latest in digital audio workstation workflows, as well as recording, editing, and mixing. BFA students will complete a demo reel in their final year, highlighting their best sound design for visual media (film, animation, games, and web media).

The Management concentration prepares students to succeed in a wide array of positions in virtually any career. Students learn to see the big picture of any organization, how key pieces fit together, and how the organization fits into an industry, field, and the overall economy.

By specializing in international business, a student gains an understanding of the international aspects of business while concentrating in a functional business area—marketing, finance, management, export/import management, or logistics. Courses analyze the rapidly changing international environment and the new management problems and tasks that result.

A concentration in Marketing prepares students for career opportunities in business firms, non-profit organizations, or government agencies. The program provides a basic foundation of business concepts and practices, as well as specialized courses in advertising, retailing, sales management, Internet marketing, and marketing research.
