As much as it is about composition, songwriting, engineering and arranging, music production is really about managing a process. The Music Producing & Recording major teaches students the historical and technical background they need to compete in the world of production, but also develops the necessary tools and techniques needed to take ideas to the next level.

The guitar is one of the most popular instruments in history but is also one of the hardest instruments to master. If you want to make a mark as a guitar player in the touring and studio worlds, you will have to master a challenging combination of harmony, reading, rhythm playing, soloing, and accompaniment skill, along with access to a wide range of stylistic vocabulary.

L.A.C.M. is proud to introduce its new Brass and Woodwind department. The Brass & Woodwind major prepares trumpet, trombone and saxophone players for a well-rounded career that incorporates live performance, studio recording, composition, arrangement and licensing. It also provides for performance opportunities in big band, large and small ensembles and performance combos that allow students to develop their personal sound as a player.

The Music Business program at L.A.C.M. is a liberal arts degree (BA or AA) that prepares professionals to tackle challenges of the modern music industry, understanding revenue streams and opportunities for innovative business models. It develops proficiency in applied business and accounting, marketing, digital distribution and monetization, A&R, publishing, licensing, music supervision, artist management, tour strategies and more, while also establishing a strong foundation in musicianship.

The Bachelor of Music (BM) program is a 12 quarter full-time program. Three majors are available for the BM degree, Music Performance, Music Production, and Composition. The Music Performance major offers emphases in Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Vocal. The Music Production major offers an emphasis in Music Producing & Recording, and the Composition Major offers an emphasis in Songwriting.

Visual culture is global, values are often contradictory, technology is constantly advancing, the pace of change is accelerating and new forms of art are dissolving boundaries between fine art, mass media, design, film and entertainment.

Entertainment Design is at the very heart of the visual experience of TV shows, films, commercials, video games, animation projects and theme parks.

Providence Christian College’s Business, Economics, and Entrepreneurship (BE&E) concentration explores business and economics principles in the dynamic environment of entrepreneurship. In conjunction with the broader liberal arts education, the BEE curriculum prepares students to be creative and innovative problem-solvers.

The Communications and Media Arts (CMA) concentration explores the fundamental questions of human existence and experience, such as “Who are we?” “Why are we here?” and “How should we live?” through a specific engagement with spoken, written, and visual forms of communication and media.

The economics option provides students with an understanding of the basic principles underlying the functioning of economic institutions. It offers a modern quantitative approach seldom available at the undergraduate level.

Study in the computer science option within the Computing & Mathematical Sciences department emphasizes rigor and creativity and is good preparation either for graduate study followed by a research career or for a variety of professional or entrepreneurial occupations.
