The BA (Hons) Theatre Industry Practice is a hands-on, skills-led course designed for aspiring performers, producers, and technical theatre professionals. Created in response to industry demand, this program immerses students in a range of disciplines, from acting and directing to stage management, lighting, and set design. With expert-led training, live theatre productions, and specialized placements, students gain real-world experience to launch successful careers in the dynamic performing arts industry.

This course explores different European theatre practices, centred on the notions of the ensemble and of crossing borders; training you in the processes of theatre-making (as a performer, director, deviser, and designer) alongside an understanding of how performance is shaped by its cultural contexts.

Performance Design students learn through collaboration with those studying on Central’s design, production and acting courses, gaining a deep insight into other practices. They also work closely with the craftspeople and constructors who will realize their designs, and the stage management and technical production teams who will bring their work to the moment of performance. Skills including model making, technical drawing using AutoCAD and SketchUp, costume drawing and storyboarding using Photoshop, and the use of projected media will be developed, and there will be opportunities to put these skills into practice on realized projects in Central’s professionally equipped performance spaces.

The Bachelor of Performing Arts degree requires three years of full-time study and offers specialisations in the combined study of music, theatre and dance.

The major is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career in theater, but who are not interested in performing. Students can choose to concentrate on one or more of the following areas: Scenery, Costumes, Lighting, Sound, and Technical Direction.

On this highly respected BA (Hons) in Costume Design and Construction course you will learn how to research, design and construct costumes for performers of many kinds. At the heart of the vocational course are the professional practice modules where you will work as part of a team delivering the costumes for a series of live projects working in collaboration with partner organisations and companies. You will graduate with the competence, understanding and experience that employers in this creative field are looking for.

East 15 Acting School’s BA Creative Producing (Theatre and Short Film) course is a full-time, industry-focused training aimed at entrepreneurial artists with an interest in creating, producing, administrating and promoting theatre and film.

On the Drama, Applied Theatre and Education (DATE) course, you can perform in, direct and devise theatre, explore performance that takes place outside traditional theatre environments, make theatre to change lives and inspire change in communities, and build industry contacts worldwide through placements and outreach projects, and develop skills in areas such as facilitating, devising, directing, performing, playwriting and filmmaking.

The Bachelor of Arts Theatre program helps students sharpen their artistic skills and explore new talents while allowing them to pair Theatre with another major. The communication, collaboration, and leadership skills gained in Theatre prepare students for success in a wide range of industries.

With a bachelor of arts in theatre, students inherently learn essential management, communication and problem-solving skills that will help every aspect of their personal and professional lives – on top of becoming experts in their chosen concentration.

The Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture was established in 1965, and has evolved into 4 branches, in addition to two departments, the Urbanism Department and the Restoration Department. It currently has around 2,930 students.

Students have the opportunity to study performance, design and theatre technology, theatre history, and dramatic literature. As a theatre major or minor, you become part of a vibrant theatrical community. Our courses integrate body, mind and spirit as you interpret dramatic literature, explore theatre history, and create theatrical productions.
