Bachelors in Nanotechnology is one of the youngest and most significantly developing scientific disciplines of the 21st century. VŠB-TUO offers the study of this interesting field in a bachelor´s study. The program of study has interdisciplinary character and provides theoretical knowledge of physics and chemistry. It is focused on the study of the structure, properties of nanomaterials and their preparation. The graduate has wide range of employment in laboratories and operations of industrial enterprises that deal with modern materials. At the same time, the graduate can continue in follow up master degree program and thus deepen his knowledge and skills.

This program gives you the opportunity to focus on the emerging field of nanotechnology, giving you an introduction to the processes involved in the fabrication of nanoscale integrated circuits and in designing the tools necessary for the mass production of nanoscale systems.

This program provides an introduction to the physics problems associated with engineering at the nanoscale level. You will have a wealth of resources at your disposal, including the Micromachining and Nanofabrication Facility, as well as the recently established undergraduate nanotechnology lab.

Micro and nanotechnology engineers are at the forefront of research and development related to a vast array of technologies that take advantage of the unique properties of materials and systems at the nanoscale, ranging from new nanomaterials and nanodevices that can be applied in a simple smartphone or in complex cancer treatment. The comprehensive major in nanoscience is the study of structures in nanometer size which is smaller than cells but larger than most molecules. At Northwest, this interdisciplinary majors focuses on providing practical laboratory experiences, isolating DNA and synthesizing nanoparticles to construct solar cells. Students can choose to specialize in nanoscale biology, nanoscale chemistry or nanoscale physics.
