Lindenwood offers a Bachelor of Arts in music with Missouri K-12 instrumental teacher certification preparation. Students seeking (Grades K-12) certification must (1) earn a bachelor of arts in music and (2) complete the requirements for a minor in education (Grades K-12). Education classes are also required for this degree, and you will study the methods of teaching instrumental music at the K-12 level, student teaching, and more.

The drum major at LACM focuses your studies on learning your instrument and on learning to play with others. The curriculum improves motor skills, technique and sound, presents contemporary rhythm concepts, and develops a wide range of repertoire across all styles. Additionally, it develops modern studio recording skills and informs students of important music business practices for any independent musician.

A Bachelor of Arts in music performance with instrumental emphasis requires 83 credit hours. Topics include piano proficiency, music history, and performances in ensembles both small and large.

Instrumental Performance music majors at MTSU come from around the world and receive top-shelf teaching from high-performing faculty. Students focus on guitar, organ; piano; jazz studies; brass, orchestral strings, woodwinds, and percussion. Programs are strong in all areas. Numerous student ensembles provide performances in styles from the concert and marching band, orchestra, and chamber music to jazz, salsa, and steel drum. Groups have recently performed concert tours of China, Korea, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, and Italy. Instrumentalists also are close to Music City's recording studios, Nashville Symphony, and a thriving live music market. Students regularly have masterclasses with world-renowned artists and can even study period instruments.

The BM in performance is a four-year program consisting of course work in the major (individual instruction, performance class, major conducted ensemble, chamber music), core music studies (theory, aural skills, music history, conducting), and a minimum of 30 credits outside the School of Music that will provide a broad education in the spirit of the Liberal Arts Foundation. A junior and senior recital is required.
