In this program, you will learn technical and creative skills you can apply to a variety of media and digital artworks. Many of our students choose to work in video production, but the choice is yours.

Our BMus-Digital Audio Arts program is theoretically grounded and practically focused, with in-depth training developed and delivered in real-world professional settings. You'll have access to outstanding facilities such as Studio One, our world-class recording studio. Studies are further enhanced through presentations by experts and visiting artists from a variety of music industry fields and creative disciplines. 

We live in a media society, but what exactly does this mean? How does a world, saturated by media images, technologies, and texts, influence how we live and work? How is the ever-changing mediascape affecting our understanding of society and our ability to shape its future? These are some of the fundamental questions that a degree in Communication and Media Studies (BCoMS) will help you to answer.

In this program, you’ll explore the creative possibilities of contemporary printmaking and publications. You’ll create innovative works in fine art print, books and independent publications in our studios with Relief; Letterpress; Intaglio; Screenprinting; Lithography; Digital media; Risography; Publishing facilities on campus. You’ll also work in the field outside the classroom. You’ll learn entrepreneurial skills through field trips, book fairs, exhibitions, print exchanges and professional partnerships.

Interested in working in media arts? OCAD University’s Integrated Media program might be for you. In this program, artists who work in the field as media makers will teach you Film; Video; Electronics and interactivity; Creative coding; Performance; Installation; Animation; Sound. In this program, you will learn technical and creative skills you can apply to a variety of media and digital artworks. Many of our students choose to work in video production, but the choice is yours. At the end of this four-year program, you will earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

The Intermedia program offers you opportunities to explore interdisciplinary practices, collaboration and research, and conceptual and social issues in a range of media arts including film

Social communication explores how information is perceived, transmitted, and understood. It also looks at the impact on society of various means of communication. Social communication includes the cultural, political, and sociological aspects of communication.

Broadcasters are known for their strong communication abilities and digital storytelling expertise for television, radio, social media and online.

How can humans use symbols, images, and sounds to create meaning that can be shared between groups and individuals? At what point do persuasive publications become propaganda? How are new social media impacting family dynamics in North America? Why will people share their private lives with strangers, on the condition that the stranger holds a microphone? In Communications and Media studies, students will be given a background in communications theory, as well as the practical skills they need to be effective in the workplace. Throughout this process, students will be encouraged to confront the field's big questions about meaning, spreading information and ideas, the power of voice, and interactions between faith and professional practice.

Media Arts explores strategies, devices and technologies that carry, change, and effect messages, narratives, images, sounds, and experiences.

In the program, students use code and programming as tools for creative expression in forms such as games, immersive and 3D environments, the internet of things (IoT), interactive performance, and data visualization.
