Thus high hopes are placed on the development and results of Nihon University’s new distinctive research style which strategically puts personnel and funds into such projects, For example, there is the development of new high-performance materials that function under extreme conditions, development and evaluation of new energy materials like fuel cells and solar cells, development of new biomaterials using materials science methods, and shedding light on global environmental change by looking at the Earth as a material circulation system and using analytical methods from materials science. It is extremely important for both graduate and undergraduate students in the natural sciences to become familiar with cutting-edge research equipment, and at our Center students have the opportunity to participate in real research projects to get a feel for the latest research methods and the current flow of research.

Philosophy," "Sociology," "Medical Ethics," and "Medical Professionalism" are offered as integrated lectures on "Human Studies ." Throughout the five years, we will learn the themes of "understanding of ourselves and others," "service to society," and "medical care and ethics ." Especially in Japan, we are conducting thorough education to "write and think" in a rare attempt .

The goal of the Tokyo Tech Academy of Energy and Informatics is to develop Multi-Scope･Energy WISE Professionals who will help realize a sustainable, human-centric energy society free of usage constraints such as costs and CO2 emissions. This will involve using tools for the intelligent use of energy, such as AI-based big data analysis. After mastering multidisciplinary energy science, these individuals will transform and design this new energy society using big data science and their social design skills. We will achieve this through the Tokyo Tech Academy of Energy and Informatics program. Developing Multi-Scope･Energy WISE Professionals will enhance the quality of Tokyo Tech’s research in the field of Integrated Energy Science, one of our primary fields, as well as develop WISE Professionals capable of succeeding in the field. Achieving these two ends will also help us attain the goal of our Designated National University proposal, which is to drive Tokyo Tech’s research quality to world-leading levels. This is why Tokyo Tech is devoting all its resources to cultivating and sending out Multi-Scope･Energy WISE Professionals into the world.

The Faculty of Education researches into ways of promoting activities that encourage people to learn, grow and develop. It also investigates from various angles the roles of kindergartens, elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, special education schools, universities, and other educational institutions on the development of societies and cultures, as well as how education supports the well-being of people and the betterment of society as a whole.

Systematic studies of the basics of and applications in the respective fields of software, hardware, database and network, and human communications technologies provide an understanding of technology’s fundamental principles, fostering creativity and the ability to develop and find applications for those technologies.

The Department of Chemistry consists of 9 laboratories that are divided into three sub-disciplines: organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and inorganic & analytical chemistry. We have eighteen faculty members, and the number of undergraduate students admitted each year is about fifty. Because of this small group learning, students and professors can keep a close relationship with each other.

The Department of Architecture and Interior fosters adaptable sensitivity and imagination in students, allowing them to create comfortable and rich lifestyle spaces using a consumer’s perspective. Starting in the third year, students enter one of two courses, depending on their goals, to learn how to propose logical and creative solutions to social issues through their specialized knowledge.

The School of Computer Science offers systematic training in programming basics and its various applications. Starting April 2015, four new courses have been established to accommodate a more diverse range of technological fields. By equipping students with advanced information and communications technologies (ICT) that are essential for creating a comfortable future society, the department aims to nurture engineers who have the theoretical and practical expertise that society truly needs.
