Under the motto of “exploring cultures through a hands-on approach,” this department engages in cultural research activities that extend beyond the campus. Students study Japanese culture from diverse angles and deepen their understanding through hands-on experiences in one of the four domains of Language, Literature, Thought & Art, and Society & Folklore.

This department offers five courses of study, namely, the histories of Japan, Asia, the West, and the Muslim world, along with archaeology, which together covers the entire field of historical studies. Students take initiative in the learning and research process by reading and documenting articles for presentation.

We offer four programs that enable students to grasp the expansive discipline of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). ICT supports our daily lives and encompasses a wide range of areas from hardware to software. Information engineering is one of the fundamentals of ICT and our curriculum requires all students to complete at least one program that reflects their focus of study.

The study and research focus in our department is on the theory and application of five key subjects: algebra, analysis, geometry, mathematical analysis of information, and computer science. As well as acquiring computational skills, students develop a mathematical sensibility and the ability to think logically. This enables them to describe phenomena and solve problems from a mathematical perspective.

The Department of Informatics and Media Design focuses on design theories and techniques relating to interface planning that connects humans with media space and media design created by audio/visual technologies.

The Department of Architecture and Urban Design will familiarize students with design theories and techniques that focus on architecture and urban environments that could be inhabited by civilians with a sense of assurance and pleasure.

Through the three offered courses of religious culture, Buddhist culture, and Zen culture, this department aims to develop in students a broad view of religions and the ability to think deeply. The goal of our religious cultural studies is to produce graduates who are prepared to participate in a global society.

This department turns out engineers well versed in problem-solving who have studied both the theory and practice of electrical and electronic engineering and can contribute to the advancement of humankind and welfare systems while building a society in harmony with the natural world.

Innovation can be described as an expansive change or movement that provides new meanings to the existing society with new ideas and a proactive attitude. Industrial innovation seeks to give new function or significance to objects and mechanisms that exist in our everyday life and the field of industrial design by utilizing new technologies and theories.
