The Pitt-Johnstown Middle-Level Education (Grades 4-8) certification encompasses the broad subject matter necessary for teaching and specific content in the three main areas of the middle school curriculum: mathematics, science, and social studies.

The Bachelor of Arts in Education (BAEd) degree prepares students to seek employment in entry-level positions in elementary or secondary art education. Classes are taught by experienced, respected faculty who bring knowledge and expertise into the classroom.

If you want to work in an educational field that does not require certification, a bachelor of arts (BA) in educational studies may be the path for you. As an educational studies student, you will meet the same admissions criteria and complete the same requirements as those admitted to the teacher education program, however, you will not have to participate in student teaching or pass the state-mandated exit assessment. This degree does not serve as a license to teach.
