At the top Dance Artist course at ArtEZ, you are trained as a (co)creating dancer and maker. Key to this is the development and embodiment of your own (artistic) identity as a dance artist.

The Theatre Arts Option offers courses in the field of acting and directing, design and technical theatre, theatre history, dramatic literature, speech, and drama for the classroom. The Dance Option offers courses in the fields of ballet, modern, jazz, and tap; dances of world cultures to include Hip Hop, Ballroom, Middle Eastern Dance, African Dance, and Latin Social Dance; choreography; dance history; and dance production. Course requirements for theatre and dance in the major and minor programs provide for flexibility and allow students considerable choice in planning their academic careers.

The BFA in Dance is a performance-oriented contemporary dance program designed to prepare students professionally as performers, choreographers, educators, and active leaders of the dance community. Students in this program demonstrate technical mastery and devote their college studies to an intensive and comprehensive dance curriculum.

The Bachelor of Performing Arts degree requires three years of full-time study and offers specialisations in the combined study of music, theatre and dance.

The Bachelor of Dance Course has a strong focus on and commitment to excellence in the practice of dance. The goal is to develop highly skilled, disciplined, knowledgeable, and versatile dance artists, in an atmosphere which supports and encourages them, as they strive to reach that technical, creative, and scholarly excellence.

Learn to choreograph and perform at a professional level by becoming part of the largest full-time dance program specialising in contemporary dance in New Zealand. You will participate in diverse performances including solo and group work, and work commissioned works by guest choreographers. The Contemporary Dance major is the most established, full-time contemporary dance program in New Zealand, and continues to develop a community of dance artists who contribute innovative choreography and performance excellence to the industry. Unitec's dance graduates are seen in all major productions throughout New Zealand.

This program in Mercyhurst is intended for the student who wishes to pursue a rigorous degree program of combined general and dance studies. The degree allows a student to complete a dual major or minor that complementary to the field and/or a concentration in pedagogy or to complete accelerated programming. Emphasis is placed on the development of transferable skills that will support transitions inside or outside the dance field.
