Our Aviation Science and Drone Technologies major, part of the Applied Physics and Engineering program, will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to become an industry leader in a variety of drone-related fields, including small drone piloting, remote sensing system design and operations, mission planning, and data analytics.

Are you considering a career in aircraft maintenance? This degree will set you on the path to becoming an aircraft maintenance engineer and a maintenance manager in the future. Your studies will include hands-on experience in aircraft component and equipment replacement, inspection, condition monitoring, fault diagnosis and rectification. You'll become familiar with the work environment and the legal requirements relating to commercial aircraft.

This Bachelor of Aircraft Engineering Technology (Hons) in Avionics program will be taught in 8 semesters (4 years) which will cover all aspects of avionic systems, their operation, and maintenance. The syllabus encompasses the fundamentals and practicals of electrical and electronic systems which also includes electronics instrumentation, aircraft electrical systems, and the maintenance of the aircraft electrical and instrument systems.

Aviation plays a fundamental role in the lives of nearly everyone in Hawaiʻi. The aeronautical sciences program makes education more accessible for students interested in applied aviation careers. Aviation produces high quality jobs that will improve the lives of Hawaiʻi’s citizens.The Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Sciences is being offered provisionally beginning in Fall 2023 according to standard WSCUC accreditation procedures. The degree will offer students two different pathways into commercial aviation, a Commercial Professional Pilot Training concentration and a Commercial Aerial Information Technology concentration. Both concentrations share a common core of commercial aviation courses for the first 3 years, coupled with a final year of specialization.
