The BA in Religious Studies is ranked as one of the best programs in The Netherlands, featured at the top 100 universities in the country. An interdisciplinary bachelor, taught entirely in English, with an international classroom and staff, who is recognized globally for the high quality of research. The program relates the latest research and theories to the current developments, and it has small classes, which are provided with intensive supervision. This BA (Honours) in Arts and Humanities (Religious Studies) degree gives you the freedom to combine the study of different subject areas in the arts and humanities. You'll develop a specialism in religious studies, exploring religions as an aspect of human culture, society and politics. You can combine this with a second specialism or choose to develop broader interests in art history, classical studies, creative writing, English language, English literature, history, modern languages, music, and philosophy.

Religion has played a monumental role in shaping our world – as well as our institution. But religion is not just an interesting relic from the past. Grapple with the insights of great thinkers from across the world and throughout history while developing skills in critical thinking, argument analysis and cultural literacy. We prepare graduates to meet a rapidly changing world. Students who choose to concentrate in philosophy will study ancient and contemporary philosophers as they engage in rigorous debate, ask the big questions and sharpen their critical thinking skills. Students who choose to concentrate in religion are introduced to the academic study of the world's religions. They dive into the sacred texts, rituals, histories and ethics of different cultures while learning to communicate effectively with those who think differently from themselves. The interdisciplinary philosophy and interdisciplinary religion concentrations allow students to craft their own majors by counting up to nine credits from outside of the department toward the major.

Religion begins with a desire to understand the purpose of existence; theologies argue that certain reasons for existence are unique and true. At Loras, majors in Religious Studies and Theology majors expand their worldviews and reflect on the complexities of religions and spirituality in the modern world.

The biblical studies major combines a broad background in philosophy, Christian theology, and ministry with a solid foundation in the Bible. Graduates are furnished with a biblical basis for Christian ministry and evangelism and are prepared for graduate study in the Bible and Christian theology.

Upon graduation with a Theology and Youth Ministry major from Thiel College, a student will demonstrate: familiarity with the biblical writings of the Jewish and Christian traditions and with scholarly approaches to interpreting these and other religious texts; the ability to interpret the nature of religious experience, Christian and otherwise, with a level of sophistication appropriate to an undergraduate scholar of religion; knowledge of the key persons, works, and movements from the history of Christianity; and a mature understanding of the interrelatedness of religion and culture.

Interested in the study of theology and religion? The Bachelor of Theology and Religious Studies will prepare you for a vast array of professions with great social relevance. Graduates end up working in education, business, publishing, the media, and the pastoral and socio-cultural sector. But you will be even better prepared for the job market with a master's degree. Your bachelor degree will give you access to both the Master of Theology and Religious Studies and the Research Master.

The Judaic studies program offers students an interdisciplinary perspective on three millennia of Jewish culture: Jewish social, religious, and political history; Jewish literature — biblical, modern, and postmodern; Jewish thought; and modern Israel. The curriculum draws from both the humanities and the social sciences and covers a wide array of topics including modern Hebrew and Yiddish. Judaic studies majors can construct their areas of specialization within the major.

Religious and philosophical thinking is dynamic and ever-changing, and so is our course. It demands - and helps you to develop - rigorous and systematic thinking.

Religion shapes the world. Whether you pursue a career in government, the entertainment industry, or community service, you cannot understand people’s values and motivations without religious literacy. As a religious studies major, you will explore the many dimensions of religion—its spiritual, historical, cultural, and social aspects. You will understand your own religious traditions, and learn from the traditions of others. The department offers cross-cultural perspectives on religion. Mason, with its diverse student body, is an ideal environment in which to undertake such study. Likewise, the Washington, DC area offers rich opportunities for encounters with a variety of religious institutions and faith communities.

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) is Otago's most flexible undergraduate degree Program, enabling students to study from a selection of more than 40 arts and social science subjects, as well as papers offered elsewhere in the University. Trevecca’s Bachelor of Arts in religious studies is a unique, double-major program designed for students who want to major in an area outside of religion but who believe that a classical education in Bible, biblical languages, theology, church history, and philosophy will supplement their future career or graduate studies goals.
