Our Political Science B.A. program develops an understanding of politics and government and of the role of individuals and groups within the political and governmental systems. The philosophy, politics and law (PPL) major is an interdisciplinary major focused on law, policy, government and citizenship. It draws on philosophy, political science, history and other areas of study. PPL majors learn how to think critically, write well and cogently debate about social, political, ethical and legal issues.

Political Science is the study of political systems and the relationships between individuals, societies, and political institutions. By providing a strong foundation in critical thinking, research, and analytical writing, a Political Science Major prepares students for a number of careers.

Students in the Social Justice and Human Rights programs examine a wide variety of oppressions such as racism, sexism, heterosexism, anti-immigrant oppression, ableism, economic injustice, animal exploitation, and environmental injustice, as well as related denials of human rights, such as human trafficking, settler colonialism, mass incarceration, use of sweatshop and child labor, unequal access to education, and voter disenfranchisement.
