Introduction
Are you interested in forging lasting working relationships with the larger San Antonio community, particularly on issues relating to the development of women’s leadership in the 21st Century? If you’re looking to learn about feminist methodologies, foster dialogue on issues concerning working class women and nurture female leadership, then you may want to major in Women’s Studies.
UTSA’s Women’s Studies degree provides the opportunity to examine the social, historical, political and cultural experiences of women from an interdisciplinary perspective. There’s an emphasis on cross-disciplinary research to encourage an informed understanding of women and issues of gender and sexuality across local and global cultures. The curriculum contains feminist theories, gender and cities, themes of social history in the U.S., the biology of human reproduction, gender and crime, society and social issues, women in politics and much more. The program is centered on research, curriculum and community engagement in exciting, important and engaging ways.
