Introduction
The interactivity between the various types of knowledge, theoretical, procedural, practical, and know-how, is, therefore, a central requirement for Social Service to be able to produce its own knowledge.
The demonstration of the specificity of Social Work that ISSSP, as a university institution, proposes to carry out involves the production of knowledge in areas unexplored by the more established Social Sciences, which is to say, the construction of objects of study/intervention, in which there is no it is only about knowing what exists and why, but how to transform it.
The conception of the practice that we assume has nothing to do with submitting to old dichotomies that reduce it to a smaller by-product, referring the direct intervention to the excluded to the less qualified professionals. The perspective that we want to develop in the ISSSP is that of an effective appreciation of fieldwork, of a real implication in the interaction with those who are affected by social vulnerabilities.
Not fearing contact with people in situations of vulnerability and/or social exclusion, nor passing by the dilemmas that face those who daily interact with excluded or socially vulnerable citizens are positions that say a lot about the epistemological, political, and ethical status that we give to the practice and training of the social worker.
