Criminal Justice

Help make the world a safer place with our B.S. in Criminal Justice.

To deal justly and effectively with problems and issues of crime, delinquency, law and social control, the criminal justice system needs college-educated individuals in a wide variety of fields who are able to think analytically and act compassionately. The B.S. in Criminal Justice offers two different concentrations of study:

Social Science Concentration

This concentration is for undergraduates who seek an interdisciplinary liberal arts program combined with a degree in criminal justice. Offered through the Department of Sociology, this program of study combines basic liberal arts courses in sociology, anthropology, political science and psychology, with specialized courses in criminal justice theory and practice, forensics, juvenile delinquency and law and social inequality. Courses are selected from across the University including: the Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, the School of Social Work and the Departments of Anthropology, Political Science and Sociology, all within the College of Arts and Sciences.

Police Science Concentration

This concentration, while interdisciplinary, is designed for returning adult students. Offered through University College, the program is geared for those specifically interested in police administration, law enforcement and community relations.
