If you choose to study Economics and Business Economics in Utrecht, you choose a broad-based view on economic issues: the real-world perspective. At Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.), we approach our subject from a real-world perspective.
- By the real-world perspective, we mean that you learn how to tackle real economic issues. In other words, during your degree, you not only work with abstract models and theories but also apply them in a context relevant to actual society.
- Because 50 percent of BSc Economics and Business Economics is made up of optional components, you can design your own personal program of study resulting in a unique professional profile. After the first year during which you take the core subjects, you gradually gain greater freedom to make your own choices and concentrate on areas useful and interesting to you. For example, you can choose a dedicated minor (a package of six courses) in Geography, Law, Social Sciences, or Applied Data Science for Economists.

Career Opportunities
The vast majority of U.S.E. graduates enroll in Master’s programs in Economics at Utrecht University School of Economics. Of course, you can also choose to go elsewhere in the Netherlands or abroad. After the Master's program, Utrecht economists often find jobs as:
- Advisors or consultants in multinationals;
- Investors or project developers in banks or other financial firms;
- Policy roles in governmental organizations, such as a ministry, the provincial authorities, employers' associations, trade unions, or European bodies;
