Introduction
The Faculty of Economics was founded on October 31, 1953 under the auspices of the private Syakhyakirti Higher Education Foundation. Then, before the inauguration Universitas Sriwijaya on September 17, 1960, the Faculty was handed over by the Foundation to Universitas Sriwijaya and all its students, lecturers, and administrative staff, which later became the forerunner of the Faculty of Economics Universitas Sriwijaya . At the time of the inauguration Universitas Sriwijaya , November 3, 1960 (PP Number: 42 of 1960 dated October 29, 1960), this Faculty only had one department, namely the Department of Corporate Economics which was later changed to the Department of Management.
On February 14, 1961 the Lampung branch of the Faculty of Economics was opened, and in 1963 it separated from the Faculty of Economics, Unsri. Based on the Rector's Decree Number: 4263 / A / I / 1965 the Bangka branch of the Faculty of Economics was opened, and on November 22, 1983 it was closed.
