Do you have a keen interest in business? Would you like to undertake a competitive degree that offers maximum flexibility?

Our Bachelor of Business Studies is a ‘designer degree’, giving you the flexibility to study a wide range of subjects, including humanities and science subjects, alongside your business subjects to provide the knowledge and skills you’ll need in your workplace or future career.

CSU also has a generous credit system to recognize your previous study. Subject to university approval, you can use your diploma or Certificate IV qualification to reduce the length and cost of your course.

If your plans change along the way, you can exit the degree with an Associate Degree in Business Studies after completing 16 subjects or with a Diploma in Business Studies after completing eight subjects.

The Bachelor of Business Studies is available on campus in Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga; at Study Centres in Sydney and Melbourne; online; through partnership arrangement at Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE (NSI); and in four locations in China.

Why study this course?

Reasons for studying the Bachelor of Business Studies at CSU:

  • you can choose from a comprehensive range of business and non-business subjects. Study up to one-third of your subjects in a non-business area
  • if you are a school leaver who is unsure which business specialization you want to pursue, you can study a range of subjects in the Bachelor of Business Studies before transferring into another more specialized CSU business degree. You can also transfer from a specialist business degree back to the Bachelor of Business Studies
  • develop both your business and lateral thinking skills. Large companies favor graduates who can think on their feet and approach business problems from a variety of different perspectives.
  • work placement is optional according to the subjects you choose, but this is a great way of improving your experience if you’re not currently in a workplace
  • we offer a range of academic help and personal support services, whether you’re studying on campus or online.

Subject choice

You'll have the flexibility to select the subjects you wish to study, with the only requirements being the completion of one Indigenous unit, one strategy subject, no more than 12 level 1 subjects and at least four level 2 and four level 3 subjects. An additional requirement is that 16 of the 24 subjects must be in a business or a business-related discipline.

Student support

Our students rave about our high level of support. Whether you’re attending a campus or studying online, you can be assured of quality learning support and personal contact from lecturers and tutors who treat you as an individual.

As a CSU student, we provide you with access to academic literacy, learning and numeracy support and skill development. Whether you need support in mathematics, English, exam techniques, essay writing or learning strategies, we can help you to acquire or enhance the skills you need to succeed in university studies.

Students are presented with strategies and techniques that allow them to better participate in academic activities. Study support services include:

  • individual consultations
  • workshops
  • drop-in sessions
  • short preparation courses
  • self-help resources.

For online students, lecturers have weekly sessions where they overview course materials for the coming week. Additionally, each subject has a forum where you can type questions or go on blogs or chat rooms for extra information and support. All these support mechanisms create a friendly, accessible student community so you are not isolated, regardless of your mode of study.

As a graduate, you will be eligible to embark on a broad range of careers, including but not limited to:

  • product development team leader
  • client service/relationship manager
