Film Directing (B.A.)
The comprehensive course of study at Macromedia gives you the best possible preparation for finding and claiming your individual place in the world of film and television. We deliberately emphasize the strengths of traditional narrative cinema, fictional and documentary perspectives, and forms.
Feature film, documentary or short film, advert, video clip or music clip – the Bachelor of Arts qualification comprising scriptwriting, cinematography, post-production, production and directing opens all possible options to you.
The university is not just a place for learning. Practical exercises, an intensive exchange of ideas with real industry professionals, and high-quality workshops on special topics are as important to us as teaching theoretical principles. That’s what students really appreciate about Macromedia.
You will learn the full facet of film-making such as script-writing, cinematography, direction, production etc., through hands-on projects. At the same time, you will develop the aptitude to manage, lead and collaborate with a diversified team of people working in diverse domains of film-making.
Numerous seminars and projects transcending subject boundaries ensure that even in your advanced studies you’ll get a broad perspective and interdisciplinary experience. Experienced professionals are there to support you – from the planning stage right to the critical analysis of the finished product.
Macromedia film graduates stand out
We are proud that Macromedia film graduates are already making a name for themselves. Recently, the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF) selected the animated film Sayaka by Macromedia graduates Katja Haumann and Benjamin Anton Wahl for a sponsorship of 62,000 euros. The project was developed as an interdisciplinary cooperation between film direction and animation.
