Here, you’ll gain a detailed overview of aircraft operations, air traffic basics, and aviation technologies. You'll also explore field aviation history, emergency cabin training, weather, operations, international aviation laws/regulations, and more.
With an operations degree in aviation, you'll have a background in aeronautics, which can help you advance your career in a variety of aviation fields. You’ll learn about all the aviation-related career opportunities you can choose from. And, you’ll learn this from aviation professionals with advanced academic degrees and Flight Instructor ratings.
This major qualifies graduates for the rATP at 1000 hours. Flight training beyond the private pilot certificate must be done with Lynn University to qualify.
Aviation operations information
Learning the operations side of the aviation industry can help you determine in what field you may want to specialize in. This operations degree takes a deep dive into both the business and aeronautics industries. Along with your core curriculum, you'll take a variety of courses in both business and aviation operations, including:
- Primary flight theory, aviation safety, weather, and history
- Management and leadership, business analytics, and operations management
- Air traffic basics, aviation technologies, aircraft operations, and aviation regulations and laws
Use your electives to pursue flight training and attain your license and ratings to become a professional pilot.

The Burton D. Morgan College of Aeronautics is a world-class aviation academy with a state-of-the-art training facility designed to help fulfill the educational needs of the vast, dynamic, global aviation profession. The college offers a variety of programs designed to provide students with the education and training needed to successfully enter the aviation profession. The aviation operations major provides a wide range of educational and experiential opportunities for students to advance into a career in any aviation operational field. In addition to the aviation operations courses, students can also pursue flight training elective courses to attain the licenses and ratings required to enter the industry as a professional pilot.
