The innovative programme for our new specialization in Film Directing and Video Games is based on knowledge and experience of world-class multimedia specialists, as well as active filmmakers, creators, and producers of video games.

The BA Degree in Film and Television Production – delivered in conjunction with Griffith College – is a rigorous, three-year programme aimed at developing core technical and production skills alongside an aesthetic and historical appreciation of the development of the film and television industries.
This programme equips students with key skills in writing, directing, cinematography, editing and completing projects for inclusion in an industry-standard showreel. The final year of the programme offers students a selection of electives allowing for specialisation in areas such as visual effects, post-production sound, screenwriting and cinematography.
This programme is aimed at learners who have already begun to experiment with film making and visual storytelling in some capacity. Applicants will have a passion and curiosity for film and television, and the means by which it is produced. This will be supported by a proven interest in film making....

The Bachelor of Design Arts (Filmmaking & Photography) applies a holistic approach to the creative field of Design from the perspective of visual narrative. Commencing with still images and photography, you will learn the practical components of digital photography in studio and location environments and develop a strong foundation in digital workflow and image correction and composite photography. You will expand your creativity by migrating to moving image and filmmaking; working with actors, producing live action narrative based short films, and gaining an insight into digital visual effects and animation.

The Film Studies degree is a vibrant, cross-disciplinary programme that focuses on historical, critical and theoretical approaches to the study of film, including television and new media. Through a close analysis of certain national and international examples, and with a specialist emphasis on the history of film, third world/postcolonial cinema and particular themes (including gender, horror, fantasy and science fiction), the degree examines the historical, political, artistic and cultural aspects that go into cinema production. A strong technical and practical element of the degree complements the theoretical component, with classes on topics such as video production, acting and screenwriting, and documentary film production. Thus the degree provides an interdisciplinary and multimedia approach, imparting a theoretical knowledge with strong elements of practical training. The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Motion Pictures is empowered by the Ohio Revised Code to require particular preliminary training or talent for admission to specific programs, and each of the five B.F.A. degree programs has specific criteria for admission to each level of training. Students in all areas must earn a minimum GPA of 2.0 by the end of the freshman year to continue in a theatre arts major. Students who wish to be admitted as majors in acting, acting/musical theatre, or dance must successfully pass an audition or interview.
